TRIP AROUND THE WORLD? Feb 28th - Mar 26th

Good questions! Hopefully more people will post questions so that I can put together a diverse list for each location. Thanks!

I have been doing some of this trip. Just heading home from Australia tomorrow. I have been gone for over a month and I think I will take a break for a few days. Have done Japan, Mexico, China (and HK), Bali and Darwin. Still have a few more to hit. Hey how do I look in a skirt?

I won't hold my breath or wait by the phone for the call. LOL

Mikeyy, I can't tell. You'll have to

"Hike up your skirt a little more", per Dave Matthews' Band.;):)

p.s. It sure is quiet around here today. It feels like when your elementary school class goes on a field trip, and there's only a hand full of kids left in the classroom, because they forgot their permission slips.

My brother and niece arrived here in Bangkok from a trip to Ambon, Banda and Kei Islands in Indonesia. On the Banda islands, which are about the only place in the world where cutmeg and mace is growing, they tried to visit a pearlfarm but this one was under Japanese management and they could not get in. On the Kei Islands there are many farms on the islands around and they were offered various South Sea pearls by Indonesian, Indonesian Chinese and even a local Arab who lives there for generations. Also black South Sea. Locally they went to a goldsmith who made earrings and pendants with 23 K gold. The weight in gold and some excellent cheap labor. The South Sea pearls were small, between 9-10mm, the baroques bigger. They must have different pearls they show to tourists, because they said they kept the bigger and better quality ones for traders. The family saw a Sikh and a Japanese on their flight to the Banda Islands. Only 2 times a week from Ambon on a 19 seater and always full. From Ambon to the Kei Islands there are daily flights. From Bali you have to fly via Makassar but from Jakarta there are non stop Ambon flights for around USD 90 one way.
On Feb 4 we go to The Philippines for 6 days

Pattye, Let me ask their pearls and I will make some pics and maybe also some pics of these islands and post here soon.
I will check out with the muslim ladies in Manila also where they have their gold ornaments made for their SSP's

Good job Josh and Elizabeth. Nice meeting you both in Tucson. See you out on the pearl trail I suspect.

Hola Josh: Well, Elisabeth did mention a bit about Mexican Pearls on the last seconds of the 3rd Video...so, why not include Guaymas in your worldwide trip??? You are ALL sincerely invited to visit us, and it is such a short trip from the US border...
