Is this a genuine Mikimoto(?) mark on these earrings?

Hi all,
I have a query about a pair of 18ct earrings I've found.
They look to be pearl earrings in a very 50s-70s style with red inset stone in the center (likely garnet).
At some point along their timeline, they look to have been converted from probably a screwback to clip ons. It was a bit of a butcher job, but I can see the backings are obscuring a hallmark. Could it be Mikimoto?

I've not handled sufficient Mikimoto pieces to tell whether this is a genuine hallmark, or if indeed Mikimoto might have produced something in this very brutalist style. The irregular shaped and coloured pearls aren't in keeping like any Mikimoto pieces I've encountered.

If there are any Mikimoto fans/ experts, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Thank You <3
