Please pardon me if this question has been asked..

I was told before that all being equal (quality, size, etc), gssps are generally more expensive than wssps... Now I have been doing some price comparisons and to my surprise, for certain sizes, wssp could actually be more expensive! This is really interesting to me.. Because this is not just one or two websites selling loose ssps I have compared... Would any of the pg-ers be able to educate/enlighten me on this?

Thanks!

Taking a general statement like this and applying it to individual pearls may not apply for many reasons. How many hands the pearls have passed through before reaching market, whether they were bought individually or part of a larger lot, purchased matched and drilled on a strand, current demand, current production, actual quality of the pearl, if the pearl is branded, such as Paspaley or Jewelmer and what the market will bear. The seller ultimately decides what the markup will be. The depth of color in GSS affects the value also.

Great advice. The lighter colors may not command a premium.
