What Did I Find?

I found these for a whopping $5 at an estate sale. I know nothing about pearls, so thought I’d come here to see if anyone has thoughts on what kind they might be.

From what I can tell, they’re gritty on the teeth, have a decent but not perfect luster (photo taken at dusk or it would be brighter), and have some red and brown imperfections on the surface. Imperfections are very visible if you zoom in. Clasp is 14/20 gold plated. I suspect they’re probably just cultured and/or dyed freshwater pearls, but would love to know what you all think!
