The 50th Year Anniversary of Chinese Freshwater Pearls

I was asked to start writing for Jewellery Net Asia and realized that last year was the 50th anniversary of the Chinese freshwater pearl! I didn't see a big hubbub about it like we say in Tahiti two years ago for their 50th.

Thanks for the link, Jeremy-- I didn't realize the Chinese FWP culturing industry was so old.

THAT explains it - i acquired (from ebay, natch) three strands of graduated freshwater cultured pearls - obviously at least as old as i am (over 30 years, that's all i'm sayin') if not older - the tag itself was pretty darned old. at any rate, i'd meant to post them on here and ask y'all about them, but hadn't gotten around to it. i hadn't realized they were doing cultured fwp for so long! (i really need to post photos of these pearls, they're GORGEOUS, and i'm saving them for something really special, just haven't figured out what yet)
