ACP-pearls, those are lovely!

I've been at a weaving conference studying kumihimo (Japanese braiding) with beads. Turns out that my teacher is a GIA certified pearl expert and braids with real pearls and gemstone briolettes, rather than fake beads. Adrienne Gaskell. I learned a lot. But I bought one of the teacher's necklaces, because my work will never look like this. Freshwater pearls. Tiny round pearls in the tassel. Top drilled drops in the body of the necklace. And pond slime colored, petal shaped keshi in the body of the necklace.

I’d love to learn some simple braiding techniques, BWeaves. Seems like it would be really fun.

A Monili orchid clasp with a natural abalone pearl on a strand of blue Tahitians from PP. And a ring from Atacama Pearls with a cultured abalone pearl from their first harvest.

Acp-pearls, lovely pearls, but the wire-wrapped necklace of natural Tennessee river pearls stands out for me! Like wearing a piece of American history.

Jeg, with that dress, you need to put elastic on your necklace and wear it as a belt. Love the set and so interested in where abalone pearls go.

Yes, I was lured by BWeaves. (Shades of Bull Durham: Annie: You did not get "lured". Women never get lured. They're too strong and powerful for that. Now say it -- "I didn't get lured and I will take responsibility for my actions".) Every time I see the video I get more excited. Bweaves, yours looks like your taste, with the congruent asymmetry, and I wonder if it will go with your turquoise?

The new Kumihimo necklace does not quite work with my new turquoise earrings, but it does work with my moonstone earrings, my white akoya earrings, and with my new Tahitian and blue baroque akoya earrings that I'm wearing today from OceanRhyme.

This necklace is so not me, and yet. Pearls check! Asymmetry check! Kumihimo braiding check! Turquoise color check! Tassel check!

And it's not as heavy as it looks. Real gemstones weigh less than glass beads. And the braid is hollow.

Really interesting necklace, BWeaves, and wow, what a lot of intricate work.

A necklace of natural color Myanmar jadeite and tiny vintage Akoya, with a pendant I attached made with a Japan Kasumi and vintage jade fish. The ring is a smooth Kasumi pearl. All pieces from Kojima.

I'm wearing dyed freshies from Kojima today, mixed with various gemstones. Lately I've really loved the pearls and gemstones look.

BWeaves...I have some woven Rice Pearl Collar necklaces...I think all the weaving is amazing with real gems or pearls!!!!!! BTW my Great Grandmother wove a necklace similar with glass beads...in the 1910-1930's. Such great work!!! So love yours!

Thanks A Breaker. My attempt at braiding with glass beads turned out well in class. But my work is never going to look like my teacher's so I bought her work.

Today I'm wearing 2 necklaces that shouldn't work together. Mom's 9 mm akoya 16" choker, and my 9 mm white baroque akoya 17" choker from PP. I was surprised by how well they nested. Mom's necklace is creamy white with a satiny luster and no blemishes. Perfectly smooth pearls. My baroque akoya necklace is very pinked and reads as round from a slight distance, but up close you can tell the pearls are off round. The luster is equal to my Hanadama earrings.

From a normal viewing distance, everything matches. These photos blow up everything close up, so you can see the differences.

The pearls are made to go with that jacket, and, the texture on that jacket!!! I can't figure out how they did that.

Long tin cup of white and golden South Sea pearls with blue baroque akoya keshi and freshwater pearls from Kojima Pearl. Dyed freshwater drops worn on my own earring hoops. Pearl drops from Kojima Pearl. The camera is not picking up how soap-bubbly the blue akoyas are. Lots of pink and green overtones, with intense blue base color. They look rather grey in the photos.

Oh, you only wore the RESTRAINED rings today... Really love that necklace!
