BWeaves- I love both of your new strands! Beautiful!

So, my lottery picks- SOC National strand, Fiji strand that was gifted to Princess Meghan, Jewelmer ropes that Mia wore at the Ruckus!

*off topic continues*

That is exactly what I was thinking, BWeaves! All these trees right next to the house, when the lot is large enough that they could have been planted further back...why?! The houses on our street were all were built from around 1959-1962 and many of those trees are now very tall.

Then just before Thanksgiving my H had the week from Hades. It began with his seeing flashing lights...I have had this and know it could be the retina detaching, as it was for his father. (Or just the vitreous detaching, as in my case.) So he had to see an eye specialist on an emergency basis in case he needed laser surgery to preserve his vision. (Thankfully he did not.)
The same week he developed a toothache and needed a root canal. On the way to that appointment, we stopped at Walmart to pick up his antibiotics. While there he twisted his knee (a re-injury) and tore his meniscus! Good thing I had a cane in the trunk. I drove him to orthopedic urgent care the next day.

The man canceled his follow-up appointment for the knee, not wanting an MRI. So of course now he is not sleeping well at night...knee pain. I suggested he reschedule the ortho...we'll see.

That is definitely the worst week ! That poor man !! Thank goodness you knew the signs for a detaching retina.. a good friend had those symptoms two years ago and she took too long sorting it out and now has had numerous operations and still can't see clearly . He must have been so depressed by the end of the week... and you must have been wondering what was next ! I do hope he improves !

And the trees...it's such a shame when you need to cut one down.. but when they are large and unwell..you just can't take the chance.

BPDDC- I do love the Purple Octo ! That's a gorgeous pearl ! And I love the idea of the tiny pearl earrings ! I'm really starting to love the little pearls... !

Thanks KB much appreciated. It was great working with Sheri she is so creative, I can't wait to share the next creation. I should delete my post, I just realized those little pearl earrings were not apart of the Private Launch.

My burgundy PP strand shipped yesterday and seems on track for delivery Wednesday. Can’t wait to see them! Hoping I don’t regret my color of clasp choice.

If only my other pearl purchase, from another seller whom I have used before, were going better. Didn’t “ship” until I questioned the length of time compared to past purchases, but it seems all they did was create a label which has been its status for three days now. Antsy because I want what I paid for, I want to work on the project they are for, I had them shipped to work which closes for a week on 12/21 so if this goes too long I won’t get them until New Year and can’t work on it over Christmas.

aerinha, if it still hasn't shipped, perhaps the seller can change the shipping label to ship directly to you--or leave the address the same but upgrade to a faster shipping method.

katbran, my late FIL also waited too long, and lost some peripheral vision in one eye permanently.

I take my 92-year old dad to the retina surgeon every 4 weeks for treatment in his left eye. They ask the same questions every time. It is now burned into my brain that seeing flashes of light constitutes a medical emergency. But I didn't know this before. (BTW, Dad is doing great. Still driving, daytime only, at 92. I should be so fortunate.)

off topic on the eyes...

Red, flashes of light have to be checked out pronto but don't necessarily mean a detachment of the retina itself. In my case it was my vitreous that was detaching from the retina, and as it tugged at the retina it stimulated it, causing the flashes of light. Apparently this is not uncommon in aging eyes. There was still the risk that the tugging could cause the retina to tear, but thankfully this didn't happen. (If it did I would have experienced loss of vision -- a dark spot-- in that area, and would know to high-tail it back to the eye Dr. )

My other eye followed suit half a year later. Now the vitreous in each eye is one huge floater. It decreased my visual acuity a little bit. After a while the brain adapts and one stops noticing the "floater." Sometimes I still see flashes in my peripheral vision the dark if I turn my eyes or head fast, as the vitreous bounces against the retina, stimulating it.

Gee it's fun getting old!

My husband had vitreous floaters that blocked his vision to the point that he had them removed (vitrectomy) earlier this year. This was followed by rapid onset cataracts and cataract surgery in late summer. He has permanent loss of vision due to a small macular hole in each eye, but other than that is seeing better than he has in years. Until this year I also didn't comprehend that the front of the eye and the back of the eye are completely different specialities.

If you can function by ignoring the floaters, that is definitely the way to go.

Sorry I haven't posted pics yet of my Vietnamese Blue Akoya strand but the weather is not cooperating. It's cold, dark, & raining...no good lighting at all. Indoor lighting isn't so good either....they look silver in pics. I'm not the best picture taker like some so I need all the help I can get. :D So hopefully, I can take some decent pics as soon as the weather clears up next week. Stay tuned....

BWeaves: I can't wait to see your new rope! You're going to be rainbow metallic for the new year! There was a rope of 11-16mm ripple pearls I almost bought on Pacific Pearls, I hope someone here bought it.

So glad to hear everyone is doing well with their eye issues. You continue to educate me on all things.

My first pair of silver-blue baroque akoya from Pacific Pearls, love at first sight. I wrapped them up after the first day for Xmas, but had to check them out first. Akoya use to be my least favorite pearl, too round and perfect and structured. I preferred Tahitians. OMG was I misinformed, Now I have one more obsession, crap.

Overcast day. Silver-blue with rose tones, a few in the strand are more of a true blue. I love the lack of conformity

Oldest has to get in the picture. When she catches me on the forum, or when I'm making a necklace, she always yells "Why-a beads, mama?? Why-a beads?!" Why not my dear :D

CBpearllover - Love your pearls, nice saturation. Are these the 18 inch 7.5-8 mm strand? I was eyeing those too. I was able to get a 9-9.5 strand from Pacific Pearls that wasn't posted. When I master the art of taking photos of my pearls, I'll post on the forum.

Beautiful strand, CBPearllover. Classic pearls with a twist. I love these so much more than the perfectly round and white variety. You will really enjoy these beauties for many years to come.

It's still cloudy & cold but not raining. I tried taking pics of my PP blue Akoya strand 7.5-8mm but still have a hard time capturing the color. I put them in a box with white filling. I took a pic by themselves, along side my 9.0-9.5mm blue Akoya strand from PP & next to my 38" blue Akoya rope. The color is more saturated than the 9.0-9.5mm strand & it looks very close in color & saturation to the rope.

Your blue Private launch pearls are gorgeous and really blue. I could see that when they were first posted by Jeremy. And your rope is nicely saturated. The 9-9.5 mm silver blues look elegant. You've got a lovely collection of blues and your pictures captured them well. I know in different lighting they will look different, but that's the beauty of the blues!!

Same exact here, except the Fiji strand given to MM is top of my list!

Thanks, Bcm21mk. The first 2 pics is more what it looks like IRL. Not as blue as the small Vietnamese blues, but definitely blue. Luster is amazing. I would love to find a pair of really blue Akoya studs & then I may be satisfied with my blue Akoyas. I have 19" & 21" strands of white & blue Akoya that I had made to nest with the 9.0-9.5 strand to help the blue stand out so I have some strands to mix in to change up things a bit. I'm really happy I found the Blue Akoya rope cause I can mix it with all sorts of things!

My ombre' metallic keshi rope arrived from Kojima today. It's gorgeous. It looks just like the glamour shots. Truly smooth metallic keshi. I'm a little concerned about the hook and clasp, because my hair undoes those kind of clasps too easily. But I'll have a spare orbit clasp shortly , so I might swap it out. Too dark to take photos tonight.
