I fear the estimates are quite a bit too low in this auction, there is a Tiffany opal necklace they're estimating at $45k I think will go way higher and an F. G. Hale brooch I also think they're wildly underestimating.

Hi madsciencechik, well spotted, that is certainly the same Antique Opal Necklace from Antiques Roadshow, what a fantastic provenance the item has.

Here's the link to the Auction item which has already met it's $25,000 reserve, will be fascinating to see how high it goes:

:( Why, oh why, am I not loaded...? I can't see things like this without wanting them.

PS

Here in Copenhagen estimates are often low to encourage bidding. Though the at the big Christmas auction a few days ago, the bidding was anything but fierce. A four carat diamond went for half of what it should have cost even if it was sold at twice the estimate.

Thanks Paul, they are gorgeous. Hate that Buyer's Premium though. 25% wow. I wonder if all the bids come in at the last minute they way they do on eBay. I want all those naturals. Won't get any. :(

Hi All, the Tiffany Opal Necklace went for $125,000 inclusive of buyers premium (vs estimate $30k-$40k).

The Natural and Cultured Pearl, Diamond, Sapphire, Platinum-Topped Gold Convertible Necklace, French that everyone liked went for a quite reasonable $11,875 inc premium (vs est. $7k-9k).

ASAP I will go back into the original post above and edit the details to include the sale prices so we have a permanent record.

Btw. Andrea, thank you for including the link to Antique Road show. I am reading my way through the whole jewelry archive. Love it!
