"Accidentally killed it in the process", lol. Cool yet sad. I always thought that a Galapagos tortoise was the longest lived animal (guess I'm not up on my biology!)

Yes, I thought so too....but apparently those tortoises live for a 100+ years, whereas this little fella was over 500 years old when it was accidentally killed...

Call me cynical, but I didn't get a sense of strong remorse coming off the article. Still, that's how I read it, not necessarily how it was. Anyway, did anyone see Sweeney Todd? That's what I'm picturing, the scientists standing around saying "Poor 'Fing...well, nuffin' to be done, might's well make a meal onnit"...
