Hi there!

I acquired an estate from a jeweler that had some very nice stones as well as junk stones.

I don't know all that much about pearls, and was hoping to start learning more about them, starting with the ones I have on hand.

Thanks in advance for any information!

Thank you. How would I best determine value?

I have others - some larger, some smaller, but would have a hard time setting a price or even knowing what direction to go in without knowing what they are and their value, and online sources I'm not sure I'm interpreting them correctly.

Prices will be hard to determine without seeing the actual pearls or getting better photos. We do not price pearls here. You can contact some pearl buyers and see if they are interested in them or list them on ebay to see what people are willing to pay for them. If you're not wanting to sell them, do searches for the pearls on ebay and look carefully at the photos to determine if your pearl is of the same type. However, beware because there are lots of mislabeled pearls.

I just ran across this today from a dealer who mentioned having 3/4 Akoya. Sooo I had to ask.... and they said 'they are Cut Akoya' ... so I had to ask... and they sent this photo. Made me think of this thread. Apparently this is not uncommon in Akoya pairs as they make for cheap prices and use up pearls that I assume were either an odd shape or had a large flaw. ? no idea But, I thought it was interesting. So, there you go..if you didn't know before..you know now :)
