Are these possibly fake pearls?

I bought these pearls from an Etsy store because of their good reviews but I noticed something very odd about the pearls after receiving them yesterday.

A few of the pearls have an outer layer and the inner part looks like a plastic bead (take a look at the pic for closer inspection). Are these pearls fake? They’re suppose to be Akoya pearls.

Not fake. They look like bead nucleated pearls, but in poor condition. The nacre has broken away there revealing the shell bead inside.

Thank you for the clarification, after asking a professional I was given the same answer too. Disappointing that the condition of the pearls are not good, I was planning to use a gold clasp to make a pearl necklace with these pearls.

No they’re not, it’s okay I will use them somehow.

I would ask for a partial refund and send them photos of the damaged pearls.
