Hi Beaders, I was wondering if you could help me find a simple 1mm 22inch chain--oxidized sterling silver. I can't seem to find this length anywhere--seems like a basic length, but I guess it's not! Does anyone know where I could find one?
Thanks!

Is it hard to attach clasps to the chain? I've never made jewelry, so it seems daunting to me haha--thanks Boo!

V easy to attach clasp with jump rings - twist the rings sideways to open them though, never just pull because you will never get them back together properly. Snake is harder to shorten because there are no clear links through which to slip a ring. You would need crimps with a ring on.
I buy my silver chain by the reel (done by weight but probably about 100 meters at a time)

Beading chain is .5MM, it I think. I've never crimped it, but I have wired it successfully.

You could buy this, have it cut down and soldered to the 22". http://www.firemountaingems.com/shopping.asp?skw=KWCHAINSS24

Seems like a lot of trouble for SS chain, though. I think I would spring for gold were I going to do that.

Oh, you want oxidized. Use hard boiled eggs if you can't find one already oxidized.

Thanks for the help! I prefer very thin cable chains, and an etsy seller is going to make this for me.

I am going to learn how to do this, though, because I'd like to learn and then I can control the different lengths I want. I love longer chains--guess they're not commercially popular enough to be sold ready made.

Thanks for the links!

Give us a pic when you can. Cable link? I'm having trouble envisioning. Thanks!

Hi knotty,
Just a basic cable chain--not for beading--this is to hang a few pendants.

It's going to be 1.5mm.

I'll post a pic when I receive it!
