Yesterday I finally made something with a tahitian pearl that I think it?s considered to be really nice or on the edge to it. I used a baroque silver blue tahitian with a round amethyst. The pearl is about 8 mm. Actually, I just wanted to try it out a little, because I was too inpatient to wait for my gold findings. I thought I would take it apart later but now I don?t want to.

I?m quite pleased with it. My boyfriend say it looks a bit like a strawberry. Any opinions?

Mervione,

That is darling! The amethyst and color of pearl really compliment with the silver.

Oh, lovely; strawberry, yes, it's certainly yummy.

Thanks everyone! And I feel ashamed for now knowing who Guinevere was until I looked into it...

Pattye: Yeah, I really think purple go nice with silver. At least most shades of purple, there is a few warmer ones that I really like together with gold.

I?m actually quite annoyed that I hided the circles on the pearls with the cap. I liked the circles quite much but it?s just fine like this too. It looks more round than baroque this way in my opinion.

This is really sweet - the colors go nicely and I bet it sits well as a pendant.

Thanks!

Caitlin: I really like to make jewelry, the last few days I?ve worked several hours each day. I think I?m just getting better and better! Right now I?m experimenting with stringing. Have learned to attach gimp properly for example, such a clever invention. I think I?m going to order some powerpro, especially for the things I wont knot since it?s important the thread is strong and durable, and since it?s fishing line...

Hi Mervione

Nothing gives me more pride in this forum, than how many people have been making their own designs and finding rewards of all kinds in doing so. The Lowly Beader's Forum was an inside joke when it started with Ashby (Sateen) and me and Danuta (and the Big Z). Who would thought so many people would join in the fun and are doing such creative work!!

Mervione - I like your pendant very much - nice balance of colours and shapes - very wearable! Can we see you wearing it please?

Caitlin,
I don't know if you have any idea just how positive and encouraging the beaders on the forum are - I would never have bothered learning to bead, do any wirework (still not my strong point) yet alone learnt to knot without inspiration from you experts. I can't thank you enough! The forum truly makes it "safe" to practice and learn - so many useful tips, fantastic knowledge base, and all the encouragement in the world - all very much appreciated!

Oh, yes, Caitlin,
Ditto, ditto ditto to Nerida's words.
I, too, would never have had the confidence to try my hand if it weren't for the help and advice on here.
Proud?
So you should be, and justifiably so.

Mervione, fuschias come to mind when I see your pendant, as well as strawberries.

How sweet it's adorable! Looks as if its for a princess. simple and elegant! I like it! Nice job!

Hi Everyone -

Beautiful pendant. Personally, I have been avoiding placing silver with any of the south sea pearls. The reason being that silver needs to be polished, and compounds can damage the nacre.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks
.julie.

You could try Argentium silver, that does not tarnish, I haven?t worked with it so far but I think that would be a good solution for not needing polishing everything that?s made of silver...

Thank you for the suggestion. I am familiar with the product, but have not tried it yet.

I exhibit at art shows in the SE USA, and many of my customers are asking me to use silver with s. sea pearls, particularly Tahitians. I'm tempted, but reluctant to do so.

Has anyone noticed any pearl discoloration or abrasion marks, etc. on their Tahitian pearls set with silver? Do you have any difficulty cleaning the silver? Are you only cleaning with warm soapy water, or have you tried using a compound or polish cloth?

thanks again
julie.

Just a quick update, decided not to sell this pendant. I?ll keep it for myself instead. I just like it so much. Was actually the first tahitian pearl I got.

What an adorable pendant! The amethyst bead goes so well with the color of the pearl, too.
