Tucson is around the corner! Anyone going?

There is the CPAA party on Weds night and the GIA party on Friday night, so I was thinking Thursday would be a good "Pearl Walk" day followed by the big PG & Friends dinner.

Hanging with Jeremy as he visits pearl booths is fun and enlightening. Everyone pearly knows him. And the people he buys from, I would trust. Those guys are mostly at the GJX.

Anyway, it takes 3-4 hours including lunch at the GJX. Then dinner together later. Last year we had Elisabeth S. and friend, plus a couple of young filmmakers. It is always a very nice time for socializing and the food is high quality, too.

{lease make some time for this day, if you are going to be in town. It doesn't matter if we don't know you yet. If you read Pearl-Guide, even without posting, and are going to be in Tucson, then make yourself known!

Jeremy meant that the CPAA party is Wednesday night so Thursday is in-between and just right. I can't make the pearl walk as I will be driving from San Diego while the pearl people are walking, but I will definitely be at the dinner. I hope I can see a lot of you there.

Are we talking March 7 for the Pearl Walk? If so, I believe my daughter and I can make it, since we will be in Tucson March 5 through 7. Do we need to make reservations forthe Pearl Walk? Obviously, this would be the first time for us.

I corrected Jeremy's post to reduce confusion. I haven't looked at a calender, but if you are here, please join in! We love pearl lovers known and unknown, so make yourself known!

Pearl Testing: How to distinguish cultured pearls from each other MOHAVE ROOM
Elizabeth Strack, Gemmologisches Institut Hamburg
Intermediate-Advanced. It is more and more difficult to distinguish the different types of cultured pearls from each other. The naked eye is no longer enough. In this seminar you’ll learn about the main x-ray methodologies to recognize natural pearls, but the seminar concentrates on a systematic overview of the methods (x-ray identification and others) that can be applied to distinguish Akoya cultured pearls and South Sea cultured pearls from Chinese freshwater pearls. A systematic approach to pearl testing is possible because of the basic differences in growth processes of all those cultured pearls available on the market. The approach includes the distinction of Japanese from Chinese freshwater cultured pearls and cultured pearls from Mexico and other niche producers such as the Fiji Islands and the Red Sea.

She is on WEDS!!!! 9-10 AM. Will you be here in time, Jeremy? Try, please?

Even though I've lived in Tucson for more than three years now, I haven't experienced the pearl walk yet - I'd love to tag along this year. I do not have a resale license, but noticed that some of the best pearl shows are closed to the general public. Will it still be possible to join you? I have to work that evening, so don't include me in the dinner count, but I hope to meet some of you next month!

My daughter and I would like to attend the Pearl Walk, as well as the luncheon. Not certain about the dinner yet; we have a drive home that night.
In any event please let us know where and when to meet the group. Really looking forward to this!

The dinner:
Jeremy and Hisano
Kether and me-
Gem Geek , Elisabeth and daughter
Taylor and Abra
Sarah
Douglas and Enrique coming? Who wants to contact them?
Josh?

Is the count above for the walk, or the dinner? Renee can't make the dinner and I can't make the walk.

The AGTA now requires $50.00 to bring a guest and they have to stay with the person who signs them in. Just an fyi. :)

You lucky, lucky ducks! Have a fantastic time for all of us, and please come back with lots of stories, photos and new pearls to share!

Please remove betty577 and daughter from dinner list. We have a long drive home that night and can't extend our stay. Thanks.

I will be happy to pay the $50 entrance fee and consider it the cost of education/entertainment, but I can probably only do that once. Is it known whether the other venues require a fee as well?

Yes, an Agta Pass is good for the gjx and the GL&M or what ever the tent shows are called. I can put you on my card then we could go out to the other shows again if you like.
