The wise person shuts up when an expert speaks on their subject so they can learn. Only the idiot immediately speaks over them

Yes Dave, please don't leave the group. I don't know what that page has to do with this group other than someone finding a link and posting it. I love reading about your posts and your activities. You're a wealth of knowledge and adventure, and we respect and value your opinions!

I have no doubt Dave has evidence that it's possible, but on the other hand it is the general consensus it's not common - with many believing it impossible.

But what I might ask is, does it really matter that much?

Anyway - nobody at PG is trying to suppress any science backing up the grain of sand theory. Nor do we have any affiliation with the Pearl Information Association.

Stick around Dave. You're always welcome to start a new thread to discuss the issue and post some evidence.

I'm sure Dave won;t want to leave this great place & I;m pretty sure he has a strong backbone & can emerge from this. Can't take everything to heart. I wonder why sand in the center of pearls is not more common. Seems to me its a irritant just as much or more than the other things & plentiful on the sea bottom. Maybe silica is more inert in the mollusk & does not trigger a sensitivity? We once though the world was flat too...

                Dave,
The interview is not about the Grain of Sand Theory. It's not even touched upon. It was not the place to do it.
My YouTube page has a place for comments and you could have easily refuted my video right there.
There are places to do the things that must be done and others where it should not. My thinking at least.
                Peace.

I agree with you Kevin. Whilst most of us believe a grain of sand cannot create a pearl (you should have heard Hubert Bari last february at the INHORGENTA conference, saying it out loud and repeating it! It was just great!) it doesn't mean it cannot be refuted, debunked and disproven.

I still don't get it. Science is all about conflicting theories and ideas...it's what makes advancement possible. Just imagine what the Pope felt when they finally dispensed with the notion of a flat Earth some centuries ago??? (and I am not against Catholics nor any other religion...Ok?) and what did the Pope did? We can fantasize...maybe he said: "Still looks flat to me!" (to the tune of Billy Joel's "Still Rock 'n Roll to me") or maybe he said: "Great! Love the new idea!".
God only knows...in the end, does it matter that much? Nope. Don't think so.
Saddened to hear Dave has left the group. I have admired his work for many years and I still wish one day I will be able to visit his "Pearling Grounds" in Canada.

LOL...I just posted something similar...Religion also deemed the earth the centerof the universe as its how they interpreted the scriptures.
When the telecope was invented men like Galileo seemed to observe things that contradicted this long held theory. It was a crime punishable by death to contradict the church. Luckily science held on & prevailed over religion. Religion has its place in society but as someone who has studied advanced science I believe man has been given the power to discover his own truths from the world & has the right to do it!
