I have Sakata pearls which were purchased by my brother in 1963 or 64. Where can I find out the value of these pearls?

Hi and welcome to Pearl-Guide!

Are you thinking of restringing them and wearing them, or selling them?

If selling, consider the fact that pearls do not tend to hold their value on resale unless they are of historic value or a well-known name brand like Mikimoto. Their condition, luster, size and length factor into what they might be worth for resale. The clasp can add value as well.

Feel free to post photos of them if you would like an opinion. Use natural light if possible, or artifical light (but no flash), against a white background (like paper towel) and include some close ups of some of the pearls including any flaws, and the clasp.
How long is the strand? What size in millimeters? What is the clasp like; any marks on it indicating the metal?

I dug up some links to Sakata pearls information that may help you:

1. Completed listings on eBay:
