Any ideas if this circa 1925 UK necklace is made real pearls and if so, if they are Scottish pearls? Want to not violate any Scottish pearl protection laws. Thanks for any opinions!

If I recall correctly, Scottish River Pearls were natural pearls, and they would not be this consistent in size and color. The color looks off to me. Looking closely at the drill holes in the last photo, it appears there is peeling around them, which would indicate imitation (manmade) pearls.

yes, I was looking at the build-up, thinking imitation. And if they are real or partial pearl product, I agree too that it would be very outlandish for them to be Scottish based on size, colour and matching- thanks, folks!! Really enjoying all of the wonderful the info on this site.

Always worth asking for an opinion, jurawkc. Welcome to the forum!

My first look at the photos without reading any comments, I thought they looked like imitation pearls. They are too evenly sized, and have no pearl luster. They are also incredibly filthy.
