Vintage Deltah Pearl Necklace with Original Box & 14KT Gold Clasp

I
I'm glad you said gold was "less expensive;" I don't think it's ever been "inexpensive," or those people would not have rushed to California and Alaska all those decades ago.

There are also various grades of diamonds, from D-flawless all the way down to industrial.

I think it's a pretty necklace, and I like the royal purple box.
Gold was around $270 in 2000-2001, when I first started playing with pearls. Minimum wage was $5.15 and the average house in the us was $175k. Today, gold is $4400, minimum wage is $7.25, and median house prices are $403k

I was going through my pearling supplies, and found a couple of 14k gold claps and their receipts. I spent $27 per clasp. The same generic 0.3 g pearl clasp today is $90.

Solid gold jewelry was a lot more affordable and attainable 25 years ago.
