Trying to find out what I have please

If it's jet, the beads will produce static electricity if rubbed briskly against your hair.
They will also either float or sink slowly when placed in water.
Will try water. I cut a small piece of feather from my duster and this what happened

Would be a stone-like material then, non-metallic. Also, not magnetizable.
I still don't think these are pearls...but only God knows what these are. Hard to gauge without touching and actually looking at the material.
No did not stick to magnet

I don't know enought about jet to answer that. I'm inclined to say "it depends". Jet was used as mourning jewelry in Victorian times but that does not mean yours (if it's jet) is old, or valuable.

I tried a search on eBay but it is truly difficult to review pricing: most items might not actually be made out of Jet, but Onyx!
I found this info on Wikipedia

I also wondered if they were Bakelite.
Bakelite is also lightweight and also generates static electricity when rubbed.
