Hello there, I recently acquired a necklace and very similar triple strand bracelet of small gray pearls with multicolored sheen. I have included a dime for size reference but they are small. I got both pieces separately.
The necklace (first 5 photos) seems of overall better quality, nice luster, pleasing colors and only a few tiny surface blemishes on a just couple of pearls which are all fairly round except for a few which are elongated. Drill holes are look clean, the ones I can see. Also the clasp is marked 14k with a tiny symbol after it that is difficult to discern. There are tiny wires that look like gold wrapped around the rings that fasten the string to it. They have a good weight to them for how small they are. There are 76 pearls on a 17” strand. The lady that owned them before me, got them from an auction site in ‘the early 2000s’.
The bracelet (last 4 photos) features pearls of the same size which are just a tad lighter and slightly more ‘blue’ appearing overall, though the luster isn’t quite as good . A few pearls show wear around the center upon close examination, and there aren’t many surface blemishes except a few tiny holes and a few pearls with circled edges. None are elongated, all fairly near round. All of the pearls featuring most of these little flaws all belong to the same strand. The clasp is marked 925 and it has those tiny wires where it meets the string. The person selling them claimed them to be South Sea but I can’t see that since they are so small, I’m guessing 5mm pearls on both pieces.
I really enjoy both of these pieces and have been wondering what they are and where in the world they could have originated. I welcome and appreciate your opinions.
