Kimberley pearl farm getting its lustre back with strong 2017 harvest

This is Bruce Browns farm. It is the oldest pearl farm in Australia if I recall correctly. It's also one of the first farms I supplied nucleus for too many years ago. Good on them!

Pearl farms across northern Australia are wrapping up this year's harvest and for the team at Cygnet Bay Pearls, north of Broome, there has been plenty to celebrate.

The Cygnet Bay harvest started with the very rare discovery of two natural pearls in one shell, and according to pearling manager Gary Firman the rest of the season delivered some quality specimens.

"The pearls are coming out really nicely this year and are an improvement on past years, which is always a good sign," he said.

I wonder what the mystery disease is that has been killing so many shells, and if it could be related to global warming?

Interesting article however I don't think the claim about the oldest Australian farm can be "trusted". Here are just two other claims found on the www:

Hence it may bring other points mentioned into question?

Wonder which one of the three, or others not listed, really is the oldest?

Edit - The last one actually states "2nd oldest" so it leaves the claim that Kuri Bay is the oldest without searching more.

Perhaps it's the oldest pearl farming company still in existence. I think the others are old pearling locations. Not companies.
