i killed some pearls for the sake of teaching dutch jewellers about them

first of all im sorry for destroying a 17 mm black pearl i know all our hearts are with him

its quite hard to explain how and why some pearls are better then the others so today we took the different types of pearls we have and cut them in two because the nacre part is the hardest part to see

the large one is a 17 mm cook island pearl and with a 3,2 mm nacre its not hard to explain to my costumers why these pearls are from a good quality the middle gray one is a normal sold as tahitian pearl from another wholesaler and the one size smaller gray one is also from the cook islands what i supply and also a thick nacre

the full black one is a keshi

and the white one a freshwater that only has a 0,5 mm nacre

so now it became quite easy to explain to the jewellery stores i sell to why the pearls i have are a good quality enjoy

Great examples, Daniel! Thank you so much for sharing! The nucleus in the dark pearls shows up very well! I do hope that 17mm pearl was a bit ugly on the outside.

haha was actually quite good on the outside only with drilling the 0.5 mm drill broke so i figured it was a great one to cut open

when i sell larger pearls they always ask how its grown etc now they can see the quality is good from the inside and the outside
