Can Guess If They Are Real

I got these pearls as a gift, they did not have an authenticity certificate. I am looking to get them authenticated in the future. But I want to know if it is worth paying someone to do it, I would hate to find out they are fake after paying for the authentication service.

These are the only pictures I have. Hope they are enough.

The pearls are real. It's a commercial-grade strand of Chinese freshwater pearls. They aren't tremendously valuable, but they are real.

The second photo is a stock photo. It's used extensively on eBay and Alibaba, where (unfortunately) it's used to scam unsuspecting buyers.

See here, here, and here. Every piece is misrepresented as saltwater (akoya and South Sea). But what buyers actually receive is commercial Chinese freshwater.
