Some pearls are really lustrous and some look dull or satin like. I know the strand is old because there is green patina on one end between the string gauards which are really dark on that side while the guards on the other side were easily wiped with dry cloth back to silver. The earlier rounded lobster clasp was also black before wiping it with dry cloth. The pearls were really dull and dark but the same dry cloth wiped all that away and now they look brighter. They are supposed to be freshwater pearls but are they dyed??
