Hello.

These are advertised as Akoya pearls but I don't think they are Akoyas? I am not an expert by any means but I think I see a little blip on the side of the pearls --for example, the two that are to the right of the clasp. There are ohters w/ this "blip" (some of the pearls on top of the clasp).

Thoughts? The vendor has great feedback but...

Thank you!

He hedges his bets in his description, calling them both akoya and freshwater-- and his length is wrong-- and that clasp is not quite like other ones of that brand that I've seen-- but I'd say yes, they are akoyas, just a bit baroque.

Thank you! You found the eBay listing! It is all over the place - I get that you might not know what kind of pearls BUT you definitely know the length so why is 18 in even listed??? While it's not that much money, you just don't know what you're getting - haha. I'm going to pass, although the pearls do look pretty nice.

I can't find the listing. I want to play, too!

GM.

It's on eBay -- search Blue Nile and pearl. The listing is all over the place. I only asked the question b/c I was curious about the pearl type -- I thought the pearls look pretty nice but I know that imitation pearls can also look nice (esp to untrained eyes).

Thank you, I was trying to think of a vendor and Blue Nile didn't occur to me.

I would say "Yes?" It totally depends on the seller's reputation. Premium Grade FWP can have the same luster and quality as shown in the picture. Maybe you can try magnifying it if you have a 100x magnifier.

Thanks for your thoughts. I am not buying the pearls. I saw the lisitng and thought it was interesting that the seller lists verbiage from the BN website without any knowledge of the pearls. For example, why is the listing noting 18 inches when clearly, the picture shows the strand is NOT 18 inches. It was more of an acadmic question - for curiousity.

I like baroque Akoya pearls, so I checked it out. I think the seller doesn't know how to measure pearls -- it's 18" to him, but 36" to us.
He offers local pickup, but doesn't accept returns. I wonder if someone goes to pick it up and doesn't like it, what happens?
