First I thought these would be lots smaller. (these are over 9-10mm)..but I was buying by the color...which is Not showing up...a blue grey with variations (which also isn't showing)...that makes my heart sing! I suspect they are dyed freshwater...but I was hoping saltwater when I saw them in person. (No, I did not pay much.) I just want this particular color to be saltwater...but I need more people's opinions please.

These days I need to be able to zoom in closer to see details. (My right eye has a cataract that is ready for surgery, but I am waiting until spring to do it.) But I, too, am leaning toward their being Tahitians.

17"long. ...my phone...so horrible on days & my eyes are just as bad! I am attaching the sellers photos...again I bought on color. The seller took much better photos! That silvery blue...& It is that way in person! (Was listed as 10mm...somehow ignored that??) ..I think I saw the color, fell in love & took a chance on it being accurate...it is!)

Dyed FWP, is what I think.
The appearance of the pits, the poor stringing job, the way the clasp is attached without gimp, and the overall quality of the surface.
Also Tahitian pearls in strands are not usually all the same size; usually there is a bit of graduation.

What does the seller say the clasp metal is?
Did the seller claim they are Tahitians?

All of that being said, by all means string and enjoy them, assuming you paid FW prices and not Tahitian prices.

I paid used freshwater $... The seller did have the 10mm & "genuine" pearls...but I loved, loved the color. Hate the white string...I'll use Mist. Don't know if I will change the clasp.. it is fine. It is gold filled...but I have so many where the clasp quality doesn't match the pearl quality. (That was 1 of my original questions...I thought great pearls always had gold...then I realized Vintage pearls are different.) If I decide to change it, I could use a number of other clasps I have. I decide what will make me happy...that might just be the original.

I think everything added together points to their being FWP.

Sometimes it is very obvious what pearls are, even just from one photo. Other times, it is less obvious, and it helps me make a better educated guess if a poster provides all the information they have on the pearls, including things like the clasp metal. I take everything into consideration.

The clasp looks fine, and gold filled can be very durable.
