There is a discussion happening at CIBJO next week that all are invited to if they are able to attend virtually. The timing is a bit off for most of us in the United States, but if you're a night owl ... ;)

Per the announcement -

We will share the journey of those unique gems and their social and environmental impact at the upcoming World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO) congress on October 29, 9AM Paris time.

Join us to unlock the value of responsible pearls!
That a "Responsible" designation would increase pearl value suggests that CIBJO, or some such entity, is intending to certify as such. Good luck.

Whole Foods introduced "Responsible" as a TRADEMARKED proprietary alternative to Organic, as it had become clear that Organic certification was resulting in overuse of arid landscapes by huge (mainly foreign) corporations requiring apocalyptic amounts of scarce water.

Will be interested to see how this translates to pearls. Sounds good, in any case!
