Speaking of the Fab-Boo, she hasn't been around lately, anyone have an update? You can pm me if you prefer---

I like how all the precious gemstones just looks like drops of paint, that's really cool.

I am working on an exfoliating hydrating soap today, using crushed pearls, shea butter, coconut oil and a secret ingredient, Purpurite. It is waiting to get cut into bars, once that is done, it gets some wax drizzled over it and a whole pearl on top of that before packaging.

Soap!

Soap!

Ok, this is the first batch ever (hopefully, I hate it when I see that my ideas have been around for a while and I am not as original as I think I am) Of Crushed roasted Pearl Shea butter and coconut oil hydrating exfoliating soap.

It's so expensive to make I wonder if there is a market for it. Anyways, this is my first attempt at a high-end soap, and I tried some out this morning and your not going to believe how much I like it already (no, really, because you probably think I'm just trying to sell the stuff)

It got me squeeky-clean and my skin still feels soft from the shea butter.

I actually made two batches, but after a test run, I decided that it needed more exfoliant, so I doubled the amount of crushed pearls.

I did everything myself for this one, roasted and crushed the pearls, sifted them so they were more or less uniform in size of powder particulate, mixed in pure shea butter, crushed the purpurite, added in cosmetic Titanium Dioxide powder and orange oil and hand mixed the soap as it cooled to ensure that the pearl powder was uniform in the soap.

They are currently curing on the back portch before I package them up and decide how I want to sell them (I may just keep the stuff myself and sell the recipie instead, who knows)

Next up, textiles!

Roasted and crushed pearls, better with butter!!!! LOL Sounds wonderful!! You are extremely creative gemologist!

Now you have to do a sunscreen with the titanium dioxide, and a little zinc oxide with the shea butter and coconut oil. And the purpurite. (I think they use that in the powered mineral makeup) This would be a non-chemically active physical barrier to both UVA & UVB rays.

I'll take a chunk of your soap :D I loooove trying out new soaps and perfumes, hehe.

Weddings

Weddings

I got an order today for a lady that wanted loose pearls to put in fortune cookies for her wedding favors, I thought that was a neat idea, it reminded me of my wedding, where I used the pearls as accents on the tables for the reception (ok, so it was a pearl theme for everything, cake included :)

Next up: Women's Blouse (buttons)

Wow, love your soap idea and love your table decoration!

The table with the pearls and flowers... Wow! That's great!

That wedding centerpiece with pearls is outstanding! The soaps are terrific also!

Ok, here is one more, I am finished with the pearl blouse, and I think it looks fantastic, added about $100 to the looks of it I think. But I digress,

This is a frosted votive holder that I have a ton of leftover from my wedding, I added some 6mm baroque and potatoes to the top edge.

Once my model (I mean wife) gets in, I'll try for a photo of the top.

Here we are, I think I caught some heat for cutting her head out of the final photo... eh, it's all about the pearls man!
9mm craft pearls for the cuffs and 11mm coin pearls for the buttons.

P.s. i think coin necklaces are fantastic, even if they can be had for cheap! :p

Hi,
Very creative. How do you attach the coin pearl buttons? I sew and have bought fake pearl buttons. They have shanks for you to pass the thread through. It doesn't look like you made 2 drill holes to have the thread passing through. Can you take pic of one button that is unbutton to show the attachment to the blouse? No pun intended. Thank you.

Very nice gemologist! I could see myself doing that in a heartbeat! But, I agree with Hanaleimom - need to see the attachment..

Am I really going to give away my million dollar secret?

Yep.

It's a total cheat. What I did was used gorilla glue to attach the undrilled coin pearls to the button that was there already. All I had to do is match the size of the pearl to the size of the button and piggy-back them. I used enough glue to ensure it won't come off with washing.

As far as the other loose pearls on the cuff, it might actually come off eventually, because it's just glue there as well, and this time the glue is going straight onto fabric, so It doesn't get the locking hold that the buttons get.

I hate to say it, but using some sandpaper on the glue side of the pearls really helps it adhere to the glue.

:)
