Hi from a newbie

Hi Mysydney,

Quote: You can compress your images. I open the images up with Microsoft Office Picture Manager and then resize and compress. This way you can actually put larger pictures on the forum. Quote

Filetype: jpg
Max width: 620 pixels
Max Height: 400 pixels

Part of quote: mikehrz 29 september 2005:
You can attach images to your posts, but the size is limited. A good photo host is www.photobucket.com. You can open a free account there, upload your pics, then provide a link to your pic. The max file size at Photobucket is 250 kg with a free account, which should be plenty big enough. They also allow "hotlinking", which means that your pic will show up in your post, but it is still stored on the photobucket server. Not all free photo hosts allow this.Quote.

Hope that helps a bit.:)

Thanks, jerin. I have followed your advice and instructions, and managed to upload 3 photos. Hope they look OK.

Forgot to mention that when we were at Pearl Paradise, a forumite suggested in an earlier post that I should bring all my pearls to ask PP if they were real or faked. I did the tooth test and found one out of 3 I bought from airline duty free was real and 2 were fake. These were confirmed by Kirsten at PP. The real one was fresh water and had very poor dye.

The 2 strands (a multi-colour fresh water and a so-called Tahitian - not so, but poorly dyed fresh water) I bought from ebay, although low quality, were real. So, I guess that was an eye opener!

Glad that we stopped by PP to choose the GSS pearl for my pendant. Hubby said it was my birthday, anniversary and Christmas gifts all rolled into one!

When we were at PP, I noticed that Jeremy was wearing one of those baroque Tahitian pearl on a leather necklace and it did look very nice (like the photo of Pierce Brosnan in Vanity).

Postscript: When I was at Church on Sunday, I noticed a friend (my age) also wearing a GSS pearl pendant (same size, but different necklace design)! Then we were invited to lunch at another friend's place, and she brought out a white SS pearl pendant from Paspaley which her husband gave her last November for her birthday. It was a little larger than mine, but I noticed there was a small imperfection on it.

Oh my! Your pendant is spectacular! Well done, you have a very beautiful piece there....

What size is the GSS?

Hi Mysydney

and thank you for very nice photos. The pearl does look very nice. Is it 10-11 mm?

Thanks for your compliments! Credit to Kirsten at PP for her assistance.

The size of the GSS pearl is 12.75mm. It is larger than the standard offered by PP, hence the higher price than listed on their website.

Exactly the RIGHT SIZE in my opinion! Beautiful!

Your pendant is beautiful! It's simple, elegant and modern. It looks gorgeous on your neck.

Hi Mysydney,

That is Perfection!

so many pearls, so little time

Remember I'm just a newbie! I'm actually sitting at my computer ALL day today, writing copy for my website & the X-cart stuff - the forum is a wonderful aid to procrastination!

Re the sun comments Blaire - the gorgeous GSS necklace that Carolyn Ehret had that someone put up on the "What do you covet most?" thread was described to me by Carolyn as being "like molten balls of sun" - great desciption, don't you think?

Thanks again for all your compliments. :D I am very happy with the pearl pendant we chose from PP.

I was not game enough to order something online, and was glad that we could go to PP to select the pearl - it has no imperfection. Kirsten showed us quite a few trays of loose GSS pearls and sizes, and some were not without the odd dimples.

Before our appointment, Kirsten asked me what I was after so she could get it ready to show us. I told her I was not after a strand as it would only be worn occasionally on formal occasions; nor earrings as when I was young my mother had a midwife pierced my ears lopsided ; nor bracelet as it gets in the way! Rather, I wanted something simple yet elegant for day-to-day use such as lunches with the girls (some of my girlfriends are loaded with jewelery), and to meetings. And, the single pearl pendant was pecfect.

I was tempted to get hubby to part with more $ for a larger size pearl, but maybe next time!

Gorgeous pearl, and it looks wonderful on you, Mysydney.

It's nice to know that a pearl we covet is owned by someone who can really appreciate it!

mysydney, I think the size is perfect right now. ;)
