Help Identifying an Antique Seed Pearl and Diamond Necklace

Hello everyone,
I recently purchased an unusual multi-strand pearl necklace and would really appreciate opinions from members experienced with antique and natural pearl jewelry.
The necklace has:

• Many strands of very small cream-colored seed pearls
• Three large floral-style sections made with irregular silver-gray pearls
• Diamond cluster centers on all three floral sections
• Pearl tassels and knotted pearl elements
• A gold-colored clasp marked 14K
• Perforated gold-colored metal backings behind the floral sections, with the pearls stitched or tied through the holes

The seller stated that the necklace may date from the late 1800s and had been passed down through the family. The previous owner was in her 90s, and I was told it had also been worn at a wedding around the 1950s.
The small seed pearls appear to be approximately 1–2 mm, while the larger irregular gray pearls around the diamond centers are roughly 3–4 mm. The larger pearls have a noticeably silvery color and irregular shapes.
I understand that photographs cannot confirm whether pearls are natural or cultured, and I am considering submitting the necklace for X-ray examination and a laboratory report. Before doing that, I would be grateful for opinions on:

1. Does the construction appear genuinely antique?
2. Does this resemble a particular region, period, or jewelry tradition?
3. Do the seed pearls or larger gray pearls visually appear consistent with natural pearls?
4. Does the necklace appear to have been restrung or repaired?
5. Would you recommend testing the complete necklace, or testing representative pearls from each type?

I will attach photographs of the full necklace, close-ups of the pearls and diamond sections, the clasp, the tassels, and the backs of the floral mounts.

I love it. I am wondering whether it is an amalgamation of different pieces and ages because of the differing colour of the pearls. I can't quite see clearly but the bell part of the tassels appears to be plastic. Can you confirm that? That may help with dating it.

Yea, I had the same doubt, so I even tried checking it with my fingernail. It feels hard like a shell, but it doesn't seem to actually be shell. It's shaped like a small half-round. In the photos, when I use a white background, the center looks silver/gray, but when I use a black background, it looks white.

[Lagoon Island Pearls]

I'm seeing two pearl types here. The strand appears made from typical cultural seed pearls. No knots, reasonable matching in size, shape, colour and lustre. The rosettes appear to be different from the strands. Larger sizes with mixed colours, shapes and surfaces. There are flat spots and ridges typical in freshwater pearls, but absent of the buttery complexes and lustrous surfaces I'd expect to see in salt water naturals. I'm 50/50 on the rosettes, which is the borderline for suggesting these merit a trip to the lab.

I'm not sure what the paid price was, nor is there accompanying documentation. Natural pieces tend to have much stronger provenance attached. Had the seller significant confidence of natural origin, they would have sent it to the lab themselves because of the greater value that may have attained.

If they're old as suggested, I would highly recommend the strand lengths be restrung. It's disheartening to see many tiny pearls toppling off on to the floor.

In love with the diamonds def a pre lab diamond piece, would have been very pricey!!! Also the cut of the diamond, it’s an Old European Cut, which is the cut used in 1890’s-1930’s.
