The rounded part of the pearl is where the bead nucleus is. The little extension is all nacre, and very lustrous.
Yes, I love them. Obviously others do too, so I’m pleased to know I haven’t got weird taste in pearls. ;-)The rounded part of the pearl is where the bead nucleus is. The little extension is all nacre, and very lustrous.
Gorgeous! Those look like baroque akoyas. I have an endless strand that is very much like that, and around the same size.
Edted to add photos I just took now. Bad lighting, but you'll get the idea.

Thank you. I see you are enjoying yours. I love pearls because you can wear them with everything—even jeans.I hope they arrive safely and that you enjoy them.
I consider my strand to be of rather low quality as far as baroque akoyas go, but they are fun and I paid very little for them on eBay some years back. The necklace is about 32-33" long and I wear them doubled, twisted, with a pearl shortener.
Yours have a gold clasp with a stone to add value.![]()
An absolute must. When I went grocery shopping I didn’t have any pearls. I wore three strand bead necklaces I designed and made myself. These did include pearls, but they were only Swarovski ones I knottted myself. Other imitation pearls didn’t lend themselves to knotting. I don’t go shopping now. I get it delivered. Should I perhaps don my pearls before opening the door to the delivery person, who brings the bags in and puts them on the bench for me?Absolutely!
I even wear my best pearls when grocery shopping.![]()
It’s lovely, particularly the wire wrapped stone. I love wire wrapped work.I dug out this old photo of them...I have a wire wrapped tourmaline slice pendant hanging from them with an enhancer bail:

Yes. Preferably keep them in their own box.The problem with pearls with these little extensions is that they can break off, so one wants to be careful with them.
