Guidance on Hs jewellery Hong Kong, pearl society, and Auction pearls, Jewelsofjoy USA all eBay sellers. I am planning to purchase some South sea drop earrings and am watching items from these sellers. As they are quite expensive I don't want to make a mistake. Are any of these trusted sites? Will be extremely for anyone's expert opinion. Thank you

Hi Johanna,

You might try to search this forum for the names. You can also get useful information about eBay sellers by looking them up on toolhaus.net and study their feedback.

If you are new to pearls I would recommend buying from some of the vendors from this site rather than chance it on eBay.

I think from the ones you've mentioned, Pearl Society is the only one worth to try. I've never had experience with them, but some members here have and they're quite pleased with PS.

I have purchased in the past from Pearl Society (a pair each of loose Tahitians and one golden SS). The quality was fine for the price paid. But the pearls had flaws, so I don't know what their top quality would look like. I remember that they provide numerous pictures and that those are accurate. I purchased also from Lilei1971 and Pearllunar. The latter has better quality pearls, including some Tahitians and South Seas, the former has some more interesting types of pearls (generally look better on the pic than in reality).

Thank you everyone for your advice Pearl Society it is then.

Thank you

I've bought pearls from Pearl Society. The photos are accurate, and the pearls I received were all very nice. The vendor answers questions quickly, ships quickly, and the shipping is not too expensive.

I bought in the past from Pearllunar. My last purchase was in 2010 and I bought pair of 9mm white "perfect" pearls for stud earrings. I wore them rarely. Mid last year I felt taking them off that surface is rough... On close inspection, noticed that there is some sort of coating on all the surface of the pearl I was able to take it off just scratching it off with my fingernail. Underneath the pearls were perfect. No idea why they would coat the pearls with whatever they coated them with.... I never bought again from them and I will not in the future.
I was never disappointed with pearls from Pearl Society.

I think she meant Pearl Society. I bought a large South Sea pearl pendant/enhancer from Pearl Society and it was exactly as pictured and a good value. :)

Thanks GG, I did mean PS. Sorry I wasn't so clear. I saw the others spoken of weren't ranked as well. Pearl Society was ranked well by all who commented on them. That is not the usual pattern, so it is worthy of attention. It is really nice to add good sellers to our lists.

I have also bought twice from Pearl Society - one is the large SSP enhancer in my album. I paid less than $100 at an auction. I also won a pair of white baroque SSP, 9.5-10 mm, for earrings at $50. In both cases I have been very satisfied. I would buy from them again but I would still look for the great bargains rather than use the Buy it Now.
