pearls found in europe

karin very ugly indeed haha only knowing that they are found 3 hours from my house in 2 weeks time makes it very interesting

because what shell is working so hard on pearls over here and if there here are they also in denmark maybe ? :) i have found weird things on the beach in denmark when i lived there :) no pearls so far haha

To me, there are no ugly pearls. Each and every natural pearl has a story to tell of how it was created.

In fact, I'm very intrigued how a pearl transforms from gonadal to extrapallial to become conjoined.

The first few images show the pearl's crystalline structure, thus not fossil.

Again, probably from mussels, although I'm not certain about the singles.

I see your point, Dave. I guess I'm too much of a consumer - pearlwise - to appriciate the finer points :)

Daniel, I didn't know you'd lived in Denmark. Mostly I think you need to be on the west coast of Denmark to find anything but trash :)

Hello Daniel,
really incredible, from which sea, or seashore or river were these found (if can be disclosed)?
Just to have a rough idea on a map.
Thanks

OK, I will start next week-end and will keep you posted of kind of pearls found in the Channel waters :)

Interesting - and ugly...

- Karin

I agree. Too bad they aren't fascinating and lovely. But they are interesting in a globular sort of way.

they look slimy, but alive, writhing- those are just so- organic. They look like a "storyteller" figure, with little guys climbing all over her. You really know it grew that way-

I totally look forward to the results of the European hunt for pearls! haha, as Daniel likes to say!
