Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Visiting Dad today. Feeling a bit Victorian. Freshwater pearl bracelet from my Mom's collection. Akoya and ruby earrings were a gift from my Mom. I think they were from Mayors Jewelers in Orlando, Florida. Akoya pearl necklace is my own design that I made for my wedding. I ended up wearing my grandmother's pearls instead, but I've always loved this necklace. I recently had more pearls added by Pearl Paradise so the necklace lays lower on my neck. They did an amazing job matching the pearls and restringing it. White pearls are all unique. It's a challenge to match pearls into a strand, let alone match existing pearls. I recently lost a Mikimoto pearl earring and even Mikimoto could NOT match the pearl for one earring. They ended up giving me two new pearls (not for free). And last but not least, South Sea keshi birds ring from SeaBeautyShop on Etsy.

Those are great finds, acp-pearls!

Pearlgully, wow, beautiful earrings and your Freshadama strand!

SurfnSci, so great to see you, it’s been a while! I especially love that bracelet.

BWeaves, the new birdie rings are adorable!

I’m in Hawaii doing my usual eating, beach time and shopping. A few days ago, a couple women were on a local talk show promoting an upcoming Tahiti Fete event. Unfortunately I won’t be here because I have been wanting to attend one of these dance events to find some shell and Tahitian jewelry. Anyways, I snapped some screenshots of the jewelry these women were wearing.

Dinner with friends wearing a jumble: circle south seas from Pearl Paradise, baby akoya from eBay, teeny tiny pearls from Etsy (received as a gift so not sure what they are exactly), a south sea keshi on chain from Pearl Paradise, and baroque south sea earrings from Kojima.

JEG: I remember that pendant. I think you got the best of that group of pendants. It's stuck in my mind as to what I want to do with my SoC mabe's.

Gingey: Love your jumble of pearls. Great dress, too.

Yesterday I was very Planet Berna. Pendant from Kamoka. Earrings from OceanRhyme (blue akoya and Tahitians). Click to the right to see the pearls. And yes, I do have my own planet. It even has its own moon. It's Asteroid 1313 in the asteroid belt. My husband has a PhD in Astronomy.

Today I'm fully Kamoka chested today. 2019 All-Josh Tahitian Harvest strand. All pearls cultured by Josh Humbert of the Kamoka pearl farm. Jurassic Time Traveler pendant is made from a carved Tahitian pearl and a prehistoric shark's tooth. Mismatched stud earrings. All from Kamoka. Their T-shirts are cotton and hemp and the women's shirts fit a woman properly.

Very pretty, Gingey! Hope your dinner was delicious!

I always love seeing that All-Josh strand, BWeaves! And the shark’s tooth is super cool, too.

Teddy bear towel buddies were waiting for us when we arrived. They made quick friends with the Bunny pals.

Love the bunnies and the towel bears!!!

New pendant from Kojima bought at Pearls by the Bay. I was going to have Sarah make a necklace out of it, but then I couldn't decide how low I wanted it to hang, so I'm keeping it as a pendant and trying it on different chains and pearl necklaces.

I'm not wild about the placement of the crab claws. 😂 Anyway, mismatched, pastel, baroque Tahitian pearl earrings from Kamoka Pearl farm. They go with everything. Freshwater pearl pendant from Kojima pearl. I think the beads are chalcedony and moonstone. Blue baroque akoya pearl rings from Takahashi Pearl via Pearl Paradise.

Hi Pomelo: Those studs are gorgeous. Personally, I love mismatched pairs, but those look like they match to me, especially with a head in between them.
Thank you! I also love mismatched pairs, I think it’d be fun to collect pearls in this size range (a good balance of size and weight for me) in various colours! I’d love a vivid peacock.

Also posting a bracelet that I finally got round to stringing (got it strung at the pearl market in Beijing, I haven’t learned yet!).

The smaller pearls are “top luster, AA/AAA” near round 7-9mm from CMW, and the rabbit-shaped SS from a livestream account in China (our eldest was born in the year of the rabbit).

This bracelet set from CMW taught me that I whilst I’m generally tolerant of blemishes in favour of colour and luster, blemishes can significantly impact how a pearl looks.

The colours are vivid and a couple of the pearls have great luster, but the level of imperfections is high.

The set contained 21 pearls and only 15 of the best made the bracelet (one was thrown away as it was so blemished pretty much the whole thing was pitted, the rest were repurposed into an earring where I figured that because I can’t see them and everyone else is at a social distance, it won’t be as noticeable). Luckily the 15 made a decent ombré, and I’ve wanted an ombré for a long time!

I’ve attached the full picture of the bracelet so those that are interested can see the blemishes in more detail.

However, of course this was reflected in the price - so I’m not complaining, just reflecting that in future I’d probably pay more for fewer imperfections. Also, as it’s an online purchase, always ask to see the pearls at their worst!

I especially like looking at the underside of the bracelet, where the vibrant colours come together.
