Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Came to post about my 9mm+ baroque blue akoya bracelet. I’m always caught by surprise and fascinated at how the colours of highly saturated pearls change depending on the light. Today, my wrist felt like a mermaid!

Also wanted to capture the iridescence on my MOP watch face. These things reminded me that I wear jewellery for myself - it just brings me so much joy!

Pearls from Flower Jem on Instagram - he recently published a newsletter which announced that he is in the process of stringing 14 strands of 9mm blue baroque akoya, and it reminded me to reach for this.

I’m always hesitant to stack pearl bracelets but have found an okay solution: a transparent gummy spiral hairband :D the transparency means it doesn’t detract too much from the stack, and its width/volume makes me feel ultra safe knowing there’s no contact whatsoever.

Out of interest, do you stack pearl bracelets? If so, do you use a buffer material?

I will stack pearls together, but tend to worry about other materials. But you found a good way around that!

Those blue baroque akoyas are gorgeous! I've been trying to find blue baroque akoyas here in the Philippines but I haven't been successful.

I think I’m enabling myself here haha.
Thanks for your thoughts! I haven’t really gone down the GSS rabbit hole because I tend to think of GSS as a substitute for 18k yellow gold (which I have enough of!) but the champagnes are a different colour category. I think I’m enabling myself here haha.
Give it a try! 😉

Pearls by the Bay was so much fun. JEG and I both talked about our trips to Japan to visit pearl farms. I enjoyed JEG's talk because she went to different pearl farms than I did. Jeremy talked about the new Pearls as One course. And Enrique talked about Sea of Cortez pearls.

My jeans are studded with pearls (Driftwood Jeans).

What I wore. Blue Baroque Akoya (BBA) stud earrings from PP Live event. BBA pendant and ring from Takahashi. BBA and teeeeeeeny tiny keshi from Takahashi from a PP Live event. Natural white Hanadama necklace from PP. Tahitian ring from OceanRhyme (I forgot to take a photo of it).

What I bought from Kojima. Natural colored akoya pearls that have not gone through the bleaching process. They are greenish. Strung with an oxidized silver chain. Tiny white freshwaters with jade links. Bluish / greenish akoya choker, without knots. Great vintage clasp. 2 pairs of freshwater drop pearl earrings with jade "windows." I feel like I should be wearing a toga and walking around Pompeii in them.

I also bought a pendant, but I was going to have it turned into a necklace. I've since changed my mind and I'll just hang the pendant off random necklaces until I decide how I want to permanently display it. But Kojima needs to mail it to me. Plus a Kasumi pearl that I'm having mounted in a ring. Sarah is working on the design.

This lady was wearing a pearl jacket. She said it was heavy.
