Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Blue baroque akoya LEATHER JACKET!!!! My Mom bought this jacket in New York in 1962. She said, "I always felt like hot shit when I wore this jacket." That's not how my Mom normally talked, haha. My blue baroque akoya pearls kinda get lost on the ice blue, iridescent leather. Pearls by Pearl Paradise, Pearls of Joy, and Takahashi Pearl.

These earrings were given to my mother in the 1950s. I don't often wear them because they are screw backs, but they are 14k and need to get out once in a while. I like that there is a left and right.

Very pretty! Have you considered getting them converted into stud earrings? That may increase the frequency of wear :)

I have a few clip-on earrings from the 50-80s (estimated age!) that I had my jeweller attach ear posts to. It made them much more wearable and I don’t need to worry so much about losing them!

I thought about that at one time, but now I plan to leave them as is. I was more concerned about losing them back in the days when you held the telephone handset to your ear. :giggle:

A couple of weeks ago I went crazy at WenPearls and bought a bunch of freshwater pearl strands. Some of my favorites were the large dyed yellow freshwater pearls that i made into a bracelet with these silly beads I found. It makes me feel very flintstones-ey. I also tried pearl knotting for the first time and made this necklace with some freshwater gold nugget pearls.

I like the confetti beads! Very fun.
Those are beautiful studs, AnnaPetite. They look very pretty on you.

Couldn't help showing my new studs arrived today, light gold SS 11-12mm. Color is exactly what I wanted for GSS studs.

These are stunning on you! Love the light champagne colour, I think it’s so flattering and provides a beautiful warm glow.

Out of interest, do you also own white-white pearl studs or pinked white studs? How do find them compared to these?

"Boulder" -shaped ... I like that. It's a good description of free-form, true baroques.
Thank you Jeremy! Another forum member once used this description and I’ve stolen it for eternity :)

I was specifically looking for pearls that weren’t circled nor drop-shaped (and also had decent luster!), so it took a while to find this strand. Whilst some of the individual pearls can be improved, overall I’m happy with it!

@Merrily hehe I hadn’t even noticed that detail! For a few years, I only owned one black crossbody bag to run daily errands in.
Last year, I decided to branch out into grey - really pushing the boundaries here haha

It's a very interesting question Pomelo. My first studs are Akoya 7,5mm pinked white which I find very lovely and "always correct". I also have 90cm natural white Akoya with beautiful shimmer of blue and lilac that I enjoy every second catching those shimmering moments. But light champagne GSS pearls really have that power of drawing me into them. When I wear pearls for myself I will reach for these champagne GSS. Or Tahiti. When I dress for the context I usually choose Akoyas.

I am loving my toki Akoya necklace from the last Takahashi pearl event. I call her "Big Presence". I am also sporting a blue/silver Akoya dangle and Akoya stud from previous Takahashi events. Oh, and I made and love the bracelet that I am wearing :)

What I wore yesterday to a fundraiser: new GSS pearl strand and studs. The strand is Jewelmer pearls from Cees and the studs are from an Intergem show. The strand is rather circle-ish, but they look good on I think, especially from arms’ length and they’re nice and big. I’m happy with them.

I have done the same, it makes life a lot easier

It looks like you double knotted? I like how that turned out. You did a great job sequencing the pearls, so fun and glowy!
