They don't look round. I'm guessing lower quality FWP.

I am guessing earlier tissue nucleated Chinese freshwater pearls from the occasional sideways drill. Wearing safety goggles, if you were to smash one with a hammer, I suspect that you would not find a bead inside. If you're tempted, please let us know the outcome.

Agree, looks like freshwater pearls, akoya have a harder luster.
