Hello everyone. I have been enjoying looking into the history of my Grandmother's pearls. So far, I believe I have determined them to be made around 1939 by a company named Evco in Canada. Prior to this company becoming known for their faux pearls, they worked with cultured pearls from Japan. The necklace remains in its original box stating cultured pearls....a box that indicates it was likely sold at a department store which is consistent with the history of this company. There is also a tag in the box that states they are cultured pearls made by Evco. I am including 2 photos that show the back and front of the clasp as well as the tag. I have been reading various suggestions on whether an appraisal is worth it or not. I would love some input and suggestions from those of you who are more educated in this area.

Yes, faux. I just got a box of imitations at an estate sale...the owner had kept ALL the tags from ALL her pearls in the bottom, including an appraisal for genuine pearls. So the tag that says cultured pearls was probably kept with the imitations. The "greening" on the metal bead cups often happens with imitations, not with real pearls...I think it has something to do with the "pearl" paint off gassing...but I don't know.
