Thrift Store Pearl Strand

I found this strand at a local thrift store for $4.00. It is unmarked, each pearl is knotted and I cannot find a seam (beginning/end) on the strand. It is 25" in length so 50 inches if it was just the single strand stretched out. The pearls appear to be 3 or 4 different colors strung in a pattern. They kind of feel sandpapery when rubbed together. This thrift shop sells jewelry boxes/pouches separately and I saw a Maui Divers Jewelry pouch sitting in the pile and that is why I looked at the pearls. I picked this strand because it was heavy and cold, which is what I look for when trying to find authentic gem beads. I would appreciate any insight or input as to whether these are real.

These are Chinese freshwater pearls and a true steal for $4.
