I know this has been posted elsewhere (but I cannot find where, even with search terms), so I thought I'd post an inquiry here for easier reference. I need to remove some leftover marker marks from some pearls I drilled. The marks are pretty small. I cannot recall if you can use Acetone (pure acetone, not nail polish remover) to remove permanent marker without damaging the pearl. Any post removal cleaning recommendations - necessary to clean after using acetone? My previous life as a bioanalytical chemist has me recalling that acetone can leave residue... Thanks!

Yes, you can use acetone on a pearl. It will take very little...dab some onto a cotton swab and clean. Then use a second swab dipped in fresh water (filtered) to rinse the area.

ETA: I use water soluble marker when marking my pearls for drilling...comes off very easily with a quick dab of water.
