Can you PLEASE tell me if these are real or fake? I’m considering buying them to wear in my wedding in one week (!), but only if they’re real. They’re vintage and I can’t tell if the nacre has been exposed, or if their imitation. If they are real, is the luster ok? And how would I go about cleaning them? Thank you SO much for all your knowledge and help!

They are real. Yes, there is some nacre missing here and there and some blemishes but if you like them, they will do!

To clean them, swish some mild soap in a bowl of water (I recommend distilled) and let the pearls sit in the soapy water for 15 minutes or so to loosen any grime that has built up.

Then use a soft cloth to wipe them clean, and maybe swabs near the drill holes to get into tight spaces. Rinse with more distilled water, then lay them to dry on a clean towel for 24 hours, to be sure the thread is dry before wearing them.

They will look better when they are clean. The luster is variable from pearl to pearl but they have a nice organic look.
I hope they aren't asking too much for them?

And best wishes for your wedding! :)
