I have bought this pre-owned pendant in white gold with diamonds and pearl. It's freshwater or south sea? I don't think it is akoya because I have several of those and they are not like this one. The second photo it's next to what I think it is an akoya, the third it's next to what I think it is a freshwater oval and the fourth it's of the mark stamp. It is originally from a reputable jeweler here. What do you guys think? Thank you.

I have browsed the jeweler website and they use freshwater, they call it biwa pearls, with gold and diamonds also. Do you need better pictures to be sure? I hope you are right because I think this would be my first south sea pearl.

I can't be sure, no. Both south sea and freshwater pearls usually have lower luster than akoyas. If the seller is calling them freshwaters than I'd go by that.

Go with what Pearl Dreams says...I will add that in trying to get bigger & better Freshwater pearls... the chinese have some that look very south seas! The luster is softer and can be very round and about the size of yours. But thankfully you have seller who is being very honest! I would wear it proudly for the beauty it is!

Thank you that's nice. I asked the vendor and he sent me two similar in stock and was very surprised with the picture. The round one 10mm like mine is supposed to be biwa. The 8mm oval is the southsea option. Don't they look exactly the same? Despite de shape obviously.

Yes. Here biwa is how they say freshwater. They look the same but the smaller oval one is more than double the price of the round one.

Do you love one? Do you love the more $$$ more? They look so much the same...I would either go with what you love or price. Personally, I don't see much difference other than shape. How do the sides look?

I will see both in person very soon. I already have the ones in the pictures I sent with my first message. Here in the daylight against a white paper.

Yes!!! In person is so much better than photos! See if you can "live with them" for a couple days and see which one really calls to you!
