Hello to everyone and Happy New Year!

Couple of years ago I bought at an auction a bunch of pearl jewellery from a man who was selling his deceased grandmother's things. That included everything, from fakes to freshwater, couple of akoya pearl necklaces.
This one necklace that I can not be sure included 47 pearls measuring approximately 8.7 to 9.2 mm pearls which are all different in shape, from round, to near round, oval, button and bullet shape (I can responsibly say there are no egg or potato shape, the oval ones are like a button, spherical in different angle where they are drilled).
The necklace had a white gold clasp stamped 750 with a single sapphire (in the pictures is a necklace I made with an antique silver and rose cut diamonds clasp that I made from a pendant I had). Sure, I can include pictures of the original clasp.
I would appreciate if you could give your opinion.
Thank you.

I thought that, too, but then I saw what I thought looked like a bead nucleus, and the high luster. But you may be right.

Thanks for all the answers.
The thread was a little bit loose so I had to break it.
Please see attached photos.
I think there is bead inside.
But again, their shape does not look like akoya to me........

Could you post a photo of the back of the clasp?? I am so curious!!! I have never seen that type of clasp with the bead cups too!

That is not an original clasp.
I made it from a piece that was previously antique silver and diamond brooch. It was part of antique, mid 19th century jewelry that was popular in Serbia back then. It was reserved for upper class citizens, and you can find more (if you are interested) if you google "srpska grana", which literally means "serbian branch". It was also popular in France and other parts of the Balkans, and it was made from gold and silver.
I have couple of pieces, and few of them I made into clasps.

Here you can see the necklace I made from very nice and large freshwaters, to match the previous necklace, with similar clasp in which I added button shaped freshwater pearl

And one more, four strand akoya pearl necklace, which ranges from 3 to 9 mm.
I am pretty proud of this piece since I personally matched all the best pearls from different necklaces that I purchased along the years.
The clasp is also made from the same antique silver pieces and has incorporated 21 rose cut diamond and 1 akoya pearl.
See attached photos and feel free to comment 😄
