Necklace and bracelet mixed pearl ruby

Hello,

I want to make a necklace and a bracelet from these two rubies bracelet and that single akoya necklace. And also I want to include some gold mini roundelles in between. Do you think they match? What kind of pattern should I use, pearl ruby pearl, or maybe two pearls and one ruby and two pearls again. The thing is the rubies are almost the size of the akoyas is that ok? Shouldn't they be smaller? I could only find those pieces to use. Thank you.

I am considering restringing some of my FW with Lepidolite beads I bought. I happen to like necklaces of pearls interspersed with stone beads.

I'm not sure about the combination of those rubies and pearls, though. It seems to me the rubies make a very strong statement and overpower the pearls. I think you may need to decide whether you want a primarily ruby necklace with just a few pearls, or a predominantly pearl necklace with just a few ruby beads. Half and half would not work IMO. Nor 2/3 and 1/3. Just my opinion of course.

Whatever you do, consider putting silicone bumpers between pearls and ruby beads, and stringing on beading wire. The edges of drill holes can be rough, and can through thread. And the rubies themselves could scratch the pearls.

I was thinking of restringing these lepidolite beads (from a local shop) with my Freshadamas. I took the pearls to the shop so I could hold various beads side by side with them, and chose the Lepidolite because they have a slight luster (Schiller effect) and this makes them go well with pearls. If I go ahead with this, I will probably make a long necklace with them.

Or maybe I'll use the lepidolite to make a bracelet (not with pearls). Except I don't wear bracelets much at all. So-- we'll see.

To me your lapidolite look a lot like the rubies. Don't you agree? Almost the same color and luster. Even the inclusions.

The lepidolite is quite a bit lighter in color than rubies. It is a massive stone-- not referring to size, but that the crystals are very small, so that the stone is opaque.

What about mixing rubies with Tahitians? Or with a single Tahitian?

That is a beautiful necklace. But my rubies are not of the same quality and color. They are much more included and almost like a burgundy color.

Ha, no-- your rubies are nice and possibly a similar quality to mine. I never realized until I shone a black light on the ruby beads that they are full of wax! Actual wax-- not glass. But that is in line with what I paid for them. And they are fine for my purpose.

Also-- in this last photo your rubies don't seem as dark as in the earlier photos.

Just play around with the design. String them temporarily on wire to test your ideas. Hold the beads from falling off the wire with bead stoppers.

I like the simulation. Another option is to be more random ... 4, 3, 1, 2, 4, etc. If you have a bead board, you can lay them out and play around.
One thing about making your own is that if you don't like it or tire of it, you can take it apart and make something else.
