They go through bleaching and then a "pinking" process, before being matched and drilled. If you were shopping in person, you might notice slight differences in the overall color from one pair of earrings to another. This is an accepted, known treatment for almost all Akoya pearls produced and sold all over the world. I first learned about this process here on the forum. It doesn't cause damage to the pearls.
