I just got a necklace and bracelet that were my grandmother's. They are black pearls and have 14kt gold clasps that are the same but marked different. One says 14kt pjs and the other is marked 14kt with a diamond shape with a upside v in it. Any help is appreciated.

The manufacturer of the clasp may not be the maker of the pearl items.

If you would like help in identifying the type of pearls themselves, we'll need more photos of them.

In this photo they appear to be somewhat egg-shaped / off round. But there can be distortion from the camera.
Are they actually fully round? If they are truly round, then they are dyed akoyas. (Akoyas do not come in those dark colors naturally).

If they are actually that eggy shape, then they are dyed freshwater pearls (which also don't come in those dark colors naturally.)

It's harder to evaluate pearls photographed against a dark background. A white or pale gray background is better.

I resemble that remark!

But in seriousness, the marks on the clasps are the marks of the manufacturer of the clasp. They are generic clasps that can be bought by any jeweler to add to their own designs, and are not the mark of the company or person who strung the pearls. The pearls look like dyed freshwater pearls from China, because of the egg shapes and the not natural color.

Hope these help. These are from a grandmother that I lost a long time ago and while I realize that they probably dont mean much to anyone else and may be not be special or "worn with pajamas " , as others have said. I am just trying to find out what they are for my family in the future. So thank you for your kind help. I appreciate your replies.
