I inherited this gorgeous lanyard style pearl necklace. The pearls are tiny--about 14 per inch! I'm assuming this necklace was made in/around what is now Czechia.

1) Can you help identify what this kind of pearls these are?
2) What can I do to make this a wearable piece again? (I think it's just gorgeous!!) But, every time I touch it another pearl comes lose. I'm having trouble finding someone skilled in restringing a piece like this, especially because the pearls are so small. I don't live in a very metropolitan place, so am not sure where to take it.

Thanks for any help!!

For restringing...you would need someone who can bead weave and follow patterns. There are youtube & websites...but you need someone who is very skilled. (Most of these are from around your area...not the US.) My US great grandmother made several of these type of necklaces in the 1915-1925, there was beadweaving patterns and she even left some partially done pieces. It is possible that it was slightly later in as part of the Works Project Admin, where artists were paid to give free classes. My great Grandmother taught painting in her tiny town & someone else might have taught beadweaving? From what my grandmother said, it might have been a French Fashion idea that went global...but rural women actually learned how to do it? If these are real pearls, it might have been made on commission for someone wealthy?

I believe some Native American tribes may do bead weaving.

I imagine if someone were skilled at making lace, incorporating beads may be the next step.
