Freshwater pearls necklace help to identify maker

Any help is much appreciated.
The necklace measures 48”. There’s a small diamond near the top left of the loop.
HU on the back BUT the U is attached to the right vertical line of the H and 585 next to it.
The shape of the pendant looks like an L to me.
Thank you for any of your expertise.

Well, 585 is 14K gold. That's a cool enhancer! I suggest that the enhancer was a separate purchase and added later.

There is no clasp. It looks like the enhancement was attached on a thread.
So the freshwater pearls are generic. Would you please explain what that means. I’m assuming “nothing special”. Being that the necklace is 48” long I can understand that!

You wished for us to be able to identify the maker of the pearls, the brand.
However, these are not of any particular brand-- thus they are generic-- by definition.

There are a great many pearls sold that are generic/unbranded. In and of itself, being generic doesn't mean they can't be really nice pearls. A brand is just a name.

I will say, though, that baroque freshwater pearls (as yours are) are the most common kind of pearls in the world. Vast quantities of such pearls have been farmed in China. (The dark ones are dyed, by the way). So you are right that they aren't special in and of themselves. (They could be special for other reasons, for example, if they belonged to a loved one.)

That doesn't mean you can't enjoy wearing them! I own baroque freshwater pearls and enjoy wearing them, though they are neither special nor valuable.

The enhancer can be easily removed. It clips on! You can wear it with any other necklace if you wish.
