Epcot's Mistukoshi Pearls

So, I am going to Disney World/Epcot and my friend really wants to do the little Pearl ceremony. Are those pearls really Akoyas? Is it a ripoff?!I will probably do it just to have cute necklace to remember... But I want to see how fake it is.

Any information is great for my awareness!

Imitation pearls should not be priced like real pearls at retail, and vice versa. Akoya pearls are quite pricey now.
So if the price is too good to be true...

Yeah, saw that but doesn't say they are legitimate. I have only heard bad things about the usual you pick.

Prior to 2020, the one inside Epcot is run by Mitsukoshi and they are akoyas. Usually 6mm but as high as 8.5. They are pulled out of a fish tank. You’re going to get white, light grey or pale yellow. (It probably still is, but I haven’t been there in 7 years.

At Disney Springs, it’s The Pearl Factory, and it’s freshwater pearls inside of an akoya shell.
