Two 16-inch antique matching pearl necklaces, a single strand with 77 pearls and a double strand with 64 and 78 pearls. the pearls measure between 4mm and 10.5mm. Each necklace has a platinum clasp with no marking. The single strand clasp holds nine 2mm European cut diamonds but one is missing. The other clasp has four 3.5mm European cut diamonds. These were inherited with no knowledge of where, when or who acquired them. Hope you enjoy the show!

The pearls look like high quality! Might even be natural...I do find the shapes very oval-shaped, then the green-colored spots on the metal...
It might be a good idea to send it over to appraisal at a reputable gem lab!

It's probably that the photos aren't displaying well on my computer screen, but my first thought at glancing at the photos was that these are nice, old, imitation pearls. The lighting may be throwing me off, because the color of these pearls is a very unnatural color on my computer screen. And they're almost too well color matched for naturals. And one of the pearls has the surface scratched off and it looks like clear glass underneath. I'm also concerned about the clasps. The diamonds have practically no prongs around them. It's like when rhinestones are glued in little cups. Platinum does not turn green. Jewelry has been plated with platinum since the 1870s, so the lack of a marking may mean it's a base metal that was plated with platinum. Definitely get them checked out a reputable gem lab and come back and tell us the results. Please prove me wrong!

The reflections on the pearls are so similar with the coloration of the color being unusual, I then found the bead with peeling coat and agree with you BWeaves, definitely imitation in my opinion, too. Did the seller/owner tell you these are diamonds set in platinum? Were the diamonds tested? They are interesting strands; thank you for sharing Mountainview.
